If you haven’t yet made plans for the 4th of July, then come to Everglades Isle here in little Everglades City for an old-fashioned 4th. Begin your celebration on Saturday, July 3rd, with a parade at 10 A.M. Spend the day in the park where there will be arts and crafts, food, and music - even a little Mr. and Miss Firecracker contest. At dusk watch the fireworks from the Lighthouse at Everglades Isle - a spectacular view. Sunday morning, July 4th, step out of your coach, cast your line in the water and catch a tarpon

Fishing in the 10,000 Islands

Fisherman have reported that catches are on the rise since last Winter’s freeze, which was a cause of concern with the fish kill.
As evidenced by the many fisherman on the water this Memorial Day week-end, the daily catches have increased and everyone is pleased.
4th generation local fishing guide, Gary Thompson, (Thompson Guide Service) says that snook, redfish, tarpon are all biting and off shore there have been good catches of cobia and permit.

The Lighthouse Club Lady Kayakers will resume their meetings in November.
Their first planned outing is a guided tour to some of the pioneer homesites in the 10,000 Islands
Any lady that enjoys kayaking, whether experienced or beginner, is encouraged to join in on the fun.
